Sept. 16th, 2011…..National Trails Day is coming October 1st, 2011 – Southern Nevada celebrates National Trails Day (NTD) when it cools down a little. Once again Henderson is hosting the event at the Promenade in Green Valley next to the Pavillon. The flier below gives the key information. We have over 50 exhibitors this year and several main-stage surprises for the attendees. National Trails Day is free to one and all.
Hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday October 1st, 2011.
National Trails Day Highlights:
Family Fun Walk
Participants of all ages are invited to join in the one mile fun walk.
Registration will be held from 9:00-10:00 am.
The walk begins at 10:00.
All participants 17 years of age or under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
A child’s tee-shirt will be available to the early registrants. Logo at right from shirt.
Henderson Trails Photo Contest
9:00 am – noon
Visit the Henderson Trails Photo Contest Display and cast your vote for People’s Choice Award. Photos were submitted in ten categories and include trails from Henderson and Southern Nevada.
12:30 PM
Join us at the main stage for the Henderson Trails Photo Contest Awards. Awards will be presented to the top three photos in each category, People’s Choice, and Best of Show.

Did you know that plans are underway for a trail that will extend around the entire Las Vegas Valley connecting communities and outdoor recreation areas such as Red Rock Canyon NCA and Lake Mead National Recreation Area? An exciting announcement will be made at the main stage at 10:30 am. If you are a trail user, you will want to learn about this new trail opportunity.

Event was a huge success thanks to all the great sponsors and our host city of Henderson. It was estimated the attendance exceeded 3,000 plus attendees. Weather was perfect. The launch of Vegas Valley Rim Trail project was announced from the main stage.
